KINGSTON, R.I, May 4, 2017— The history department in the University of Rhode Island’s College of Arts and Sciences held an awards ceremony Sunday, April 30, to honor students who have demonstrated excellence in the discipline.
The recipient of this year’s Pell Medal for Outstanding Achievement in United States History by a senior history major is Alexandra Goldsmith of Plainview, N.Y.
In addition to Goldsmith, other award winners are:
Kristina Canton of Warwick: The University Academic Excellence Award for history.
Robert Walsh of Warwick: The University Academic Excellence Award for history and Phi Alpha Theta initiate.
Lindsey Peterson of Torrington, Conn.: The William and Clarice Metz Prize for Outstanding Achievement by a Senior History Major.
Bridget Hall of North Smithfield: The Margaret Thomas Phi Alpha Theta Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Junior History Major and Phi Alpha Theta initiate.
The following students were initiated into the Phi Alpha Theta History national honor society:
